Hello! I am honoured – and very excited – to have been elected as your National President for 2026-27. And how wonderful to have taken the reins of this fabulous Association at our AGM in Southampton – on my birthday! A wonderful way to celebrate and a great way to start my year.

I am very much looking forward to getting out and about; to charter celebrations, fundraising events, membership events, bowling, axe throwing, quizzing, crafting – whatever you and your Clubs are doing, I would like to share it with you!

Hopefully you will be seeing a lot of these two over the coming year, as Tangent turns blue. For me, this design and my strap line captures the very heart of what Tangent stands for: friendship, compassion and support. It represents the kindness and understanding that can make such a difference and the comfort that people living with dementia and those who care for them, so desperately need to make each day a little easier.

So, let’s see how far these little bears can travel, spreading their simple, but powerful message as they go.

Presidents Charity Alzheimer’s Society

My chosen charity for 2026-2027 is Alzheimer’s Society. 

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer.

With nearly 1 million people living with the condition, it affects us all and it devastates lives.

It’s cruelty overwhelms those living with it. It’s scale overwhelms the NHS, social care and the economy. It’s complexity poses overwhelming challenges in how we research, diagnose and treat it.

June 6th 2026: Come and join me for a fabulous Charity Lunch in Taunton. A fantastic opportunity to meet with your friends, make some new ones, and raise much needed funds.

February 13th 2027: Put on your (blue!) glad rags and come to my Forget-me-Not Ball in Bracknell, Berkshire – a night to remember!
